March 9   Navy yards and sea turtles

Several of Batty's family came in the early hours of the day, like 5 AM.  They slept in a little and then we went on our days journey.  We stopped for lunch the same place we did when Bert and I first came to Thailand.  We had all kinds of sea food from shrimp, crab, horseshoe crab grilled fish (head and all), plus lots of other things.  I have learned to like the fish but let someone else have the head.

Waiting for our lunch to be served on the beach next to the ocean.
They lay out mats and put a low table on them.  Most sit on the mats
but I had a chair.  Before we were done several others were on chairs.

We had barely started eating when a rain cloud went over and really threatened rain.  The staff came out and picked up our table and mats and moved them inside a car garage where our cars had been parked.  With a table the size and height of this one it is easy to move.  It did not take long and the rain really came.  They need it as they have had very little since the floods 2 years ago.  The rainy season is about to start.  It did cool down a little after the rain and the breeze felt great.

We had planned on taking a boat ride to an island so the kids could play in the water.  After the rains came it was decided to go to the Navy yards to see the sea turtle protection program.

What did we ever do before cell phones.
All 4 of these are from our group.

From here we went to the Navy Ship Yards.
They wanted to tour a ship but could not as I was
with them.  A foreigner had to have a special permit from
the Thai Navy.
Some US Navy men were there helping with remodeling of
a ship.  We just walked around.

From here we drove through a fishing village and
stopped for some pictures

Mommy bought me a sailor suit.
Wonder what I can get into down here?

On the way home they stopped at a market and
bought supper, 2 kinds of muscles, conk, and some
other things.  I did eat some of both and they are
quite good.
